Good News: AV100 is now upgrading to support AC3/DTS SPDIF passthrough, which was once the unique feature of AV200. After the upgrade, all AV100 users can own this function for free. At the same time, it's a pity that it turns out AV100 can't perfectly upgrade to support Blu-ray menu navigation, so users who want to use this feature have to purchase AV200.

Why the box shows the wrong storage?

How do I upgrade the system?

Two ways to upgrade the system: “Live Upgrade” and “Local Upgrade”.

Live Upgrade:

First of all, make sure the Internet connection is OK. Go to “System Settings” -> “Other Settings” to open “System Upgrade”. Then choose “Official Server” in “Live Upgrade” to check for the new version for upgrade. After the new version is found, click “Start Download” to download the upgrade pack. After the downloading finished, click “OK”, then “Start Upgrading” to upgrade the system. During the process, the system will automatically reboot and the system upgrade page will be re-opened. Now click “Official Server” to check for new version. When you see this prompt “You are running the latest version”, it means that the system has been upgraded successfully. Done.

Local Upgrade:

If you choose to use “Local Upgrade”, you need to download the upgrade pack and change its name to "update.zip". Save it under the root directory in your external drive before connecting the drive to your box. Then click “Scan” under “System Upgrade” -> “Local Upgrade” to locate the downloaded upgrade pack then install and upgrade. The upgrade pack available for download at:

AV100: http://www.vidon.me/download/sun7i_android_sugar-ref001_update.zip

AV200: http://www.vidon.me/download/sun6i_android_mars-ml220_update.zip

In what circumstances should I use it?

You can connect it to your TV screen as a set-top box, to an external hard drive as a hard drive player, and you can also use it to surf the Internet, play games, view moves, and more.

Can I use it to play Blu-rays?

Of course you can. It can play Blu-ray and DVD ISO files and movie folders, and various videos in standard formats.

How do I reboot the box in case it is suddenly frozen or something else goes wrong?

Simply press and hold down the Power button for about 10 seconds to reboot.

How can I reinstall the firmware if the box becomes a “dead brick”?

Just download the image file (firmware) for the AV100 box, or the image file for AV200, and download the package in which you'll find the app (for Windows) for burning the image file into an empty SD card (1GB+), and note that if you're using a card with files in it, please make sure you backup the files beforehand, since the image burning will automatically format the card. Then:
1. Disconnect the power. Insert the SD card with the image file burnt in (it's normal if you see nothing in the card, since the image file is invisible). Press “Reset Button” and hold there while reconnecting the box to the power. When the signal light is on, release “Reset Button”. And the box is starting reinstalling the firmware now. During the process, you can see the signal light is alternately in red and blue;
2. When you see only the red light is on, it means that the firmware reinstalling process has been completed;
3.Disconnect the power then get out the SD card;
4. Reconnect the box to the power and your TV, the box will reboot automatically with the blue light on. And you can see the welcome screen on your TV secreen;
5. If the screen shows nothing (the blue light shall be on), please reboot the screen as well.
Done. You can download a detailed guide about this at: http://vidon.me/download/how-to-reinstall-firmware-for-box-en.zip

Some places of the interface are not translated into the language I chose. What should I do?

Just reboot the box and this will be solved.

Does the box support third-party software and accessories?

The box runs the Android 4.2 operating system. You can download and install all Android apps in Google Play for free.  If you want to use other third-party accessories, please be sure they will meet the specifications of our product.

What video, audio and picture formats does the box support?

It supports nearly all popular and standard video, audio and picture formats, including but not limited to:

Video: M2TS, TS, MP4, MKV, AVI, VOB, H264, MPEG2, RMVB, FLV, WMV, etc.

Audio: AC3, DTS, MP3, PCM, etc.

Picture: JPG, JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIFF

How do I manually configure IP?

Wi-Fi: Go to "System Settings" -> "Other Settings" -> "Advanced Settings" to choose the Wi-Fi you want to connect to, then change the "IP settings" to "Static" and you can set the IP now.

Wired Network: Go to "Advanced Settings" to choose "more" -> "Ethernet", then you can manually set the IP.

How do I obtain the MAC address and Chip ID?

a. You can get the MAC address in "System Settings" -> "Network Settings".

b. Open VidOn XBMC, choose "About" under "System Settings", then you can get the Chip ID.

Is there any limit to the external storage devices?

The limits are up to 3TB for a hard drive, and no limits for NAS.

How can I view online video?

You can view online through the following two ways:

a. Install online video add-ons in VidOn XBMC.

b. Download and install online video related apps in Google Play (many video apps have been pre-installed in, like YouTube, Hulu, Plus, Netflix, etc.)

How can I install APK files?

Two ways to do this:

a. Go to "My Apps" -> "Play Store" to download directly from Google Play to install.

b. For already downloaded APK files, just copy them into a flash drive or a portable hard drive that connects to the box, then locate the APK files in "File Management" and click them to install.

How to do initial settings for the box?

Please watch this video about initial settings.

Why the TV screen shows nothing after I connected the screen and the box with HDMI cable?

Please power on the box at first, then connect it with HDMI cable to the screen.

Why does the system info of the memory and the overall capacity of hard drive show incorrectly? (e.g. AV200 shows 1GB memory while it’s 2GB in fact.)

Part of the space of the memory and hard drive taken by the Android system is hidden in the system info, that’s why what you see is not what it is. You can install some tool such as Android Assistant or Memory Booster or other similar tool to check the accurate info of the memory and hard drive storage for the box.

Why the internet speed of my AV100 is very slow?

This might be caused by the abnormal network configurations due to the mal-operation, such as a sudden power failure, during the first initialization process. Usually, this problem can be fixed by pressing the reset button at the bottom of the Box.

1. Micro USB doesn't work?
2. Some buttons on the control don't work?
3. The video will fast forward when I press mute button?
4. Reset button doesn't work?

All the above issues can be solved by reinstalling the firmware of the box. You can refer to the above FAQ on how to operate.

Is the shipping free?

Yes. Shipping is FREE all over the world, and you will receive the product within 7-15 days after we ship it.

Will I be informed after the product is sent out?

We will inform you via email immediately after we ship the product. Then in a couple of days, you will receive another email telling that it's ready for you to use your order number to track the delivery status at http://vidon.me/order_track.htm. You can also use the email account you used for ordering the product instead of the order number to track. If any problems of the tracking or any questions, please contact the service staff.

What if the product gets lost during its journey to me?

We will take the responsibility, and after we confirm the loss with the shipping company involved, we will re-send another piece to you ASAP.

What is your warranty?

We have a 1-month return policy that begins on the delivery date, on condition that the product does not work, and you are not responsible for the problem; the maintenance period is 12 months for the box body, and 3 months for accessories respectively, starting on the delivery date.

Who will pay for the transport if I need to return or let you repair my product?

Transport cost from your place to ours should be at your expense.
